FuturoNow Healthy Marriage Initiative

The FuturoNow Healthy Marriage Initiative is a multifaceted healthy marriage education and public awareness initiative targeting the low-income Hispanic population of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange Counties

The FuturoNow Healthy Marriage Project unites TELACU’s leadership experience within the Hispanic community with current capacity building efforts, nationally recognized experts in marriage education programming, and deeply connected faith-based and community organizations to create a singularly powerful, effective marriage education program.

The FuturoNow Healthy Marriage Initiative is the collaborative effort of diverse organizations using a
two-pronged approach to teach minorities and low-income individuals how to build successful marriages.

First, a widespread public awareness campaign will focus the attention of more than 1.7 million individuals on the importance of healthy marriages and the positive influence they have on children.
Second, a targeted education program will help more than 4,000 residents across the Los Angeles area learn what it takes to create healthy, long-term relationships.

Through educational workshops, family retreats and marriage conferences, men and women will be taught a variety of interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, goal setting and effective communication. They also will be taught practical skills such as budgeting and how to set educational and career goals.  Teenagers will be taught how to look beyond casual partners to find compatible individuals who will help build solid, respectful relationships.
